How To: Create a Contract from HubSpot
This workflow allows your sales team to initiate contracts directly from a HubSpot deal card using the Measure integration. Contracts are created in Measure, sent for signature via Dropbox Sign, and automatically converted into active subscriptions upon execution.
Refer to this article if you have not connected your HubSpot integration in Measure yet.
1. Initiate the Contract from the Deal Card
Navigate to the relevant deal card in HubSpot. In the right-hand sidebar, locate the Maple Contract section (scroll down if it is not immediately visible).
Click Create Contract.
What auto-fills in the contract*:
Contact Name
Email
Title
Organization
Phone number
Address
*Additional fields can be mapped in the HubSpot integration card in the Measure platform.
2. Configure Contract Details
In the Measure contract panel, complete the following fields:
Template
Select the appropriate contract template from your Maple account.
Optional Fields
PO number
Contract expiration date
Signatory
Defaults to the primary HubSpot contact. Update this field if the signatory differs.
Plan Details
Add your product or plan details.
Adjust quantity and apply discounts as needed.
Payment Options
Choose between automatic charge or invoice.
If invoicing, set payment terms.
Determine if a payment method is required before execution
Optionally restrict allowed payment methods (ex. ACH only).
3. Save as Draft
Click Save Draft. A link to view the contract in Measure will appear. The user can open Measure to review the draft, make any final edits, and preview the formatted contract before finalizing.
4. Finalize the Contract
From within Measure, click Finalize. This sends the contract to Dropbox Sign, creating a signable copy and moving the contract to Pending Signatures/Awaiting Customer Information status.
5. Share with the Customer
Click Share to send the contract via:
Email: sends to the email on file; CC addresses can be added.
Link: copy a direct link to the Dropbox Sign document.
The customer will be prompted to enter any customer input fields, and will proceed to the contract, which can be signed directly in Dropbox Sign.
6. Contract Execution & Subscription Activation
Once the customer and counter-signatory have signed (and provides a payment method, if necessary):
The contract status in Measure updates to Executed.
A subscription is automatically created for the customer, starting at the time of signing, or the specified start date.
An invoice will be generated for the first billing period.
